...but when dealing with relatives, you MUST draw a line in the sand which neither you nor them must ever cross. That line is called a 'boundary' and when a relative or even a stranger crosses that boundary, then you can say whatever needs to be said to put them back on their own side of that line. If they don't know enough to mind their own business, then it is up to YOU to teach them what they never learned about life along the way.

If you don't do that, they will not respect you and will always want to know your personal business, but will do nothing with the information once you tell them everything about your personal life. They will do nothing with the information except talk about you behind your back, which means they're not looking out for your best interest, which means they only ask about your business because they are incredibly nosy and can't help themselves.
