Modern world hero , The Green Prince
The Green Prince is a book and a documentary about the oldest son of one of Hamas top leaders. He becomes his father's assistant and right hand man in the very inner circle of the planning, training, organizing, funding, public presentation and objectives and mission goals of Hamas. In his early twenties at that time he quickly becomes disillusioned and disheartened with what they publicly claim to be their actions and their intentions. With the intentional lies , false statements and creating blame on themselves for the purpose of creating public outrage. Going against the moral fiber and ideals he was raised with , he couldn't take it anymore. His reaction to these circumstances unknowingly and unintentionally turn him into one of the greatest heros of the modern era.
He maintained his position in the inner circle of Hamas defying everyone and everything he ever knew and went to the Israeli secret service. For the next ten years he provided information , names, dates, times, objectives, etc, etc. on the operations and workings of Hamas. Even getting himself and his father arrested by the Israelis for a short time for their own safety from attacks by the Israelis on Hamas leaders.
The stress level and courage this young man had to possess on a daily basis for over ten years knowing if he was discovered would mean certain death . His motivation was the simple fact that their actions were not morally or ethically correct. He got no money or protection from the Israelis and when they changed his handling situation he fled to America to tell his story. He was very nearly deported back to Israel because they lied about his situation. He contacted his father to apologize for the shame he cuased his family. His father said it was not a big deal and to come back. His own father tried to lure him back to his own death. Because honor killings are a VERY REAL part of Islamic culture.
He finally got some help from his original Israeli secret service handler and took the US government to court. He won his citizenship and remains in America today a man without a country, without a family, without a religion with a price on his head and the constant threat of retaliation from Muslims .
He did it all because he knew in his heart it was not right. How many of us could stand that strongly on our convictions? Very, very few I am sure. I think we all owe him a massive thank you for exposing Hamas and the intentions of the Islamic world . A true modern world Hero, deserving of all .our respect and best wishes and prayers.
