At the time covid was perceived as a deadly threat to those with weakened immune systems.
We knew that studying what had previously happened in areas where covid is a common and regular occurrence.

If you introduce something new into a population unaccustomed to it then fear of the possibility is likely to drive policy.

Another thing to bare in mind is that no government wants the potential for deaths or disability on their watch. Especially if they did nothing themselves to warrant it.

Worth also pointing out that this decision was made after hospitals were already inundated with wards full of covid sufferers !

We didn't realise that once you do that you infect entire hospitals !
Recovered patients couldn't go home and neither could the Doctors and Nurses working there.

That meant even those in recovery (remembering covid takes three weeks and multiple tests - that we didn't have at the time) couldn't be sent home or into convalescence because there was nowhere considered safe to send them.

And then we get to rapidly produced vaccines....
Which is a whole other can of worms based on nothing but percentages; the drug corporation pushing their perceived effectiveness throws at a panicking government; and another stupid policy decision to vaccinate those they saw as at risk while somewhat conveniently insisting there was no need to vaccinate those under a certain age !

@Picklebobble2 me and many others didnt perceive it like that at all. And this was said in oct 2021, plenty of time for people to read the ifr ℅, dodgy stats (classed as covid death within 28 days of a test), those fraudulent tests, makes flu vanish, insane lockdowns etc etc etc.

I know its difficult as many went along with this and wanted people that chose not to get injected expelled from society but time to admit you were had. They conned you. Nothing wrong with being misled/lied to but its time to admit it now

@gol979 I (unvaccinated) would go further and say there is a problem and I was banging on about this at the time; when you blow half a trillion pounds on anything there are consequences to the owners of that money and in this case it's the public.
National debt up (later state pension age, cut backs, debt throughout almost all local government, etc).
NHS waiting lists up - we're taking people away from serious illness identification and treatment to assist with vaccinating, how stupid does this sound now especially if you have late diagnosis Cancer.
Apparently there is a 'Covid Inquiry' taking place (it'll be way too costly for the results), I'll bet there are more pats on the back than lessons learned.

@GeniUs agreed. £37 billion for trick and trace was the cherry on the cake. Obviously going to lead to inflation.

That covid inquiry will result in "we should have locked down earlier and harder" i guess. Its a part of the propaganda

@gol979 One of the real positives that came out of it and it shouldn't have taken a supercold to identify this, was that GPs waiting rooms were better segregated but now they want the space back so now you can catch a chest infection by sitting near the wrong person in a waiting room. There are very few take aways from the whole Covid farce.

@gol979 You make the ASSUMPTION that covid is DONE. And until there's a CURE not yet another JAB for yet ANOTHER evolved version of the virus, this thing could yet get 100 times WORSE.

So many people think that "Because it hasn't affected me personally" it equates to 'A mountain out of a molehill'.
But the fact is that governments now know they can sacrifice the health of the minority for business gain by allowing travel for 'questionably healthy foreigners' that pre-covid would probably have been DENIED a travel visa to do so.

So the next outbreak of..,whatever comes next could be a lot worse because of refusal or denial of anything related by the general populace.

@Picklebobble2 course it isnt done.....they are already telling you "disease x" is around the corner. Another propagandised flu and im fairly sure if they start going door to door next time you will be there cheering it on. Oh well, hopefully more will resist and refuse next time round

@Picklebobble2 it should be a choice. If you want to put yourself under house arrest, wear a mask, ram swabs up your nose, stay 6 feet away from other humans, inject yourself etc then feel free to do so and if you dont want to play silly beggars then carry on as normal.
