Did you ever suspect you might have mild sleep apnea?

Every couple months, I get a feeling that I'm not getting full air in as I awake.I'm not gasping per se, but breathing in deeper than usual to get air. It's always in the morning, and I'm on my back. I sleep all night however, on my stomach. So in the night, it seems all is ok. I wonder if it could be mild sleep apnea. I am not however tired in the daytime and that's a main symptom.

I read losing even a bit of weight can lower or even stop sleep apnea. (not always, sometimes it is genetic).
Have you ever thought you might have a mild form? If so did you do an at home Apnea test?
Or did you try to lose some weight, and that minimized things?

I thought I had mild sleep apnea-- it seemed to me I was fine as long as I didn't sleep on my back. My husband said I sometimes stopped breathing in the night, hard for me to believe. After I had a transient ischemic attack (mini stroke) my doctor insisted I get an at-home sleep study. That showed I had severe sleep apnea. I learned that sleep apnea makes you more likely to have a stroke and a stroke makes you more likely to get sleep apnea. Now I sleep with a CPAP machine.

@Baybreeze the doctor did not say if he thought the apnea had been a big cause of the TIA, but he was very insistent that I get the CPAP to reduce the likelihood of future strokes (I also started on blood pressure and cholesterol meds). The CPAP is comfortable and my insurance covers it.

Yes I have. When I had my colonoscopy the anesthesiologist even told me to see a doctor about it immediately.

They say sleeping on your stomach is the worst for you. I tend to sleep on my back only. I have noticed however, I guess I fall asleep and then I hear myself snore and then half wake back up, open my eyes 5 minutes after that, watch the TV that is already on for the next minute or two then set the sleep timer then try to fall back asleep.

Do you have a smart watch . They are not prefect but some of them having settings to help see if that is an issue or not.

@Baybreeze like i said its not prefect but i could help you see if there is an issue and you can send your doctor the information if there is a concern
