Punches It's people doing all the work, imo, and f*cking "journalists" baiting for clicks worldwide. This designation is the very same designation that was given also to Ebola, Zika, Swine Flu, on top of my mind. It's just that until (metaphorically) yesterday people lived in their own bubble and didn't think of viruses as a threat, either to their lives or their lifestyle, then COVID happened and these news get 5x the attention they would've received otherwise. There's an outbreak of some sh*t like this once every 2-3 years.
Besides, There's like ~400 active cases of MPXV in my country since early June, if it was COVID we'd have those cases in maybe one hour, not two months, so the potential for MPXV to cause comparable large-scale damage is virtually nil. Vaccination programs cost and since neither of us are military assets worth throwing billions at, we're simply not worth the investment for something that is so slow to spread and relatively harmless (yeah it can scar you for life, but how many have died of MPXV in the west world? If I remember correctly the tally is still zero in three months).
COVID vaccination was a thing only and solely because the alternative, i.e. let's open the gates to the flood and see what happens (which was the #1 strategy tried, don't forget) turned to cause the elite more losses (in terms of shutdowns, workers taking quarantine or mourning leaves and so forth) than investing billions to vaccinate all the peons.
