First day of therapy

So my buddy had his first day of the 12 week program. He actually stopped by my work after to talk. We went to a restaurant by my office and he got me lunch and we ate it outside.

He said it went well being the first day but he said he got another really bad headache and he asked one of the doctors there about it and they told him it was from him a adjusting to his new medications and a late trauma response. They took him to take Excedrin and if he keeps having them they would give him something next week. He agreed to that.

I'm just a little surprised they wouldn't give him something to help with the headache. They were really bad. So bad he got sick from it.

I don't think the migraine nose spray that YOU take would interfere with his meds. They really left him in a bind for a whole WEEK.

@4meAndyou I don't either but hopefully when he goes wed his therapist that admitted him will be there and give him something to help.

Excedrin Migraine often worked well for me if I started taking it at the very beginning of the migraine. So it would be good for him to always carry some.

@Poppies I stopped and got him some on the way home

@Poppies sadly it didn't help so I gave him some of my meds.

@HootyTheNightOwl I am so sorry about your mother

My friend did almost everything right. He has very depressed and he can to me for help. We got him into therapy and they put him on medication to help. It wasn't his fault that the pills made that dark feeling inside him to strong to ignore.

Thankfully we have another chance to help him.

@Cigarguy Sometimes, the medicine that's supposed to help can make things worse.

I was prescribed prozac when I was 18 because I was depressed. I ended up reaching a similar point to your friend, only I recognised that it was the medicine making me feel worse... so I stopped taking it before I got to that point.

He definitely needs supervision and support for a while if the last medicine he tried made him so bad that he needed to be in hospital. He's lucky that he got another chance to try something else that might help him to feel better.

@HootyTheNightOwl the bad thing is he did reach out to the nurse that worked with his therapist. She told him it was normal to feel that way since he'd never taken antidepressants before. She told him to give it more time to kick in. So he did and it got worse. He doesn't even remember doing it.
