I hate to sound condescending, but, have you asked your physician?
Wordlover · F
@samueltyler2 yes! of course I have! Was just wondering if anyone had any experience or tips really on how to deal with them or prevent them somewhat.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Wordlover there are medications to use at the first indication, particularly if you have an aura. There are some lifestyle changes that can help.
Wordlover · F
@samueltyler2 indeed,I now have medication. I wrote this post last year.😄

@Wordlover has it worked? There are several meds available, some may be better then others.
Wordlover · F
@samueltyler2 I take them when I need to and they work. What I wish for is an actual cure though!! No such luck!

@Wordlover there may be many causes, some may be curable. Are you in an area with a medical school? You might ask for a referral. Some allergies, etc, can be involved, there are also some pseudo-migraines which are "curable." This is not directly in my sphere of expertise, but I do have an academic bias. If you are concerned, see if you can see a university based headache doctor.

@samueltyler2 that sounds interesting, thank you.

@Wordlover I spent 48 years in academic medicine, so I have a bias. There are other therapeutic interventions, I believe, as well. An academic physician might have access to other therapies for you.

@samueltyler2 I have heard acupuncture may be beneficial, not sure though.

@Wordlover I have heard that as well. If your coverage is good, it is certainly worth the try.
