I Have Lost People I Love From Cancer

His name was Danny Gomez. He was a hell of a guy. We worked together at a hardware store back when I was younger, before I decided that writing was something I could actually make money doing. He was a wise older gentleman but more importantly, he was kind. One of the gentlest spirits I have had the privilege of knowing. I could go on for pages and pages describing the goodness of this man but there is no need for that here. No one here knows the man I remember and telling you about him won't bring him any closer to you. He is gone. The world is a poorer place without him.

I write because I want the world to know that there is a man who I remember. I man who I miss. A man named Danny Gomez who made a difference in my life. I wish with all my heart that I could bring him back. He was good and kind and loving. He had many flaws. I am aware of that. There are even those who are glad he is gone. I am aware of that as well. But I miss him. He was a good friend to me and I would like to have just one more chance to tell him so.

Good bye, Danny. Rest well. You are not forgotten. Your kindness and gentle words of encouragement live on in my heart and ever shall. I love you, my friend and I know I will see you again someday. Till then, rest easy and wait for me. I have so much to tell you!
