It Is A Worry

The whole HIV + thing is always a bit of a worry but, I gather, it's gone from being a life limiting condition to a condition that the individual can live with for a fairly long time.

That is good, in that respect.

But why risk contracting it in the first place? Having unprotected sex with someone you don't know is playing Russian Roulette with your health. Plus it adds extra strain onto the NHS (in the UK) if you do catch it.
