Obamas affordable health care

@saragoodtimes thanks to congress's failure to extend the support.

Subsidy for low income people who had insurance through Marketplace have been withdrawn. I get no assistance now, they were paying just about all of it for the past three or four years.
@samueltyler2 it wasdesigned to be affoedable. the subsidies were put in to get through the pandemic. Trump wan't to reform the program but can't get support from the Dems

@JohnnySpot Reach out to your congressmen and US Senator and complain!

Don't blame the cost on ACA, the cost is because without the subsidies the real cost has to be covered by someone.

With the probability that fewer people will continue their insurance, the underwriters have fewer probable insured so they adjusted the rates again to cover that. The insurance companies pay huge salaries to their staffs, up to 20% of all premiums go to administration, not hospitals or physicians.

@saragoodtimes you are partially correct, but the ACA as designed by the Republican Governor of Mass, if it had been passed as it was introduced, would have been equitable for all concerned. Guess who sabotaged it?
JohnnySpot · 56-60, M
@samueltyler2 I'm not blaming ACA or anyone ACA is what got me free insurance for years. I think you gave a pretty good example of what subsidies are.
@samueltyler2 seems in order to afford Obama care you have to have a decent job. maybe the answer is instead of paying the providers offer incentives to employers to provide benefits to more employees and definitely let insurance companies offer plans across state lines
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes that isn't a bad idea, but Congress, at least one side of the aisle, keeps saying ACA is no good and they will come up with a better option, they have had almost 15 years and have done nothing! That squeezes the citizens. It also puts hospitals at risk.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@saragoodtimes you really buy into that nonsense? The Democrats have said they want to negotiate a better plan. Trump only wants to scrap ACA and start all over again, this taking away insurance from millions of US citizens, no undocumented, with a few exceptions, are eligible for insurance.

Logic dictates that one should cut out the middleman.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@JohnnySpot with the politics in the US the chances of converting to a single payer is close to zero.
JohnnySpot · 56-60, M
The government should cover any kind of a car accident, stick in the eye from the wind, any kind of accidental emergency, but if you're doing dangerous work for your own profit that's different and one should have the means to go to the doctor if they get chicken pox or something and be able to afford it.
It's just a jumping off spot from Johnny Spot, I proposed a workable plan to level the local deficit, it took me 45 minutes, and they stayed up all night trying to fix it.🥳
