I heard a rumor at work that I will be hired as a permanent employee in August

Hopefully that's true because then I'll get insurance and finally be able to have my medical issues tended to. I desperately need carpal tunnel surgery and meds for my endocrine imbalances.

I'm happy that you may get the medical treatment you need soon but it's sad it takes becoming a permanent employee to get medical insurace that's one thing that should be non negotiable in any civilized society is access to medical treatment.
