Whats your pattern of getting sick?

Does it happen every year, seasonally?
Or do you seem to go years without and then suddenly get everything that's going round?

Im kinda annoyed: ever since i had a mandatory covid shot, i seem to get sick once every year now.😠

Happens immediately prior to every planned holiday with my in-laws.
@NudasPriest Nice 😏

😂

Haven't been sick since covid .. my immune system is ..

@BrandNewMan
That's terrific !
Go you!💪
BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
@OogieBoogie 🤭 I've probably jinxed myself .. but what ev's
I seem to get sick during spring and fall pollen season.
@OogieBoogie
The thing I don’t like about getting a cough is it triggers my asthma.
Harmonium1923 · 56-60, M
@CookieCrumbs Just wrote the same thing before I saw your answer.
@Harmonium1923
I’ve been coughing for 3 days now. I had to take prednisone already. 😕
Kiesel · 56-60, M
About every other year for me and yeah, seasonal

My dad developed a few complications and chronic issues after his covid shots
@Kiesel i wish i never had it.
But the govt made them mandatory for school staff - we'd lose our job if we didn't 🤷‍♀

Im a bit pissed about that . They ruled a year later that it didn't have to be mandatory.
Kiesel · 56-60, M
@OogieBoogie yeah, that was a bunch of BS for sure
It was also mandatory for my dad, to maintain Medicare
JohnnyNoir · 61-69, M
For a number of years I would get sick during my vacation at the first of each year

@OogieBoogie In State Government jobs in SA if you get sick on your holidays you can convert that to paid sick leave with a Doctor's certificate.
@KiwiBird we still get paid for sick days. I think we get a total of 10 a year.
But i should look that up.
Rarely get sick with a virus. Have a flu shot and Covid booster every year.
pdockal · 56-60, M
I'm lucky
No covid shot
No flu shot etc
I rarely get sick
Typically it's when i let myself run down

I get short bouts of allergies in the spring and fall each year.

Have you had blood work done recently... as in your white blood cell count? If it's down a bit then that could well be the cause.
Ontheroad · M
@OogieBoogie DQ got fat. She stopped eating a few months back, maybe 8 months ago and it took me a minute to figure out she simply no longer liked wet food. So I put her on dry food and she slowly got fatter and fatter.

Now she is on a diet and she is pissed🤣 Not a fan of the diet routine at all. Now, whenever I'm in the kitchen for whatever reason, even just passing through, she jets in there and starts whining and circling her bowl. If I don't give her food almost immediately she'll first rub up against me, then when that doesn't work, she swats me, claws extended🤣
@Ontheroad so shes a full house kitty now and loves her daddy ? ....despite the diet😏

That's SUCH GOOD NEWS !
You were so patient with her🤗
Ontheroad · M
@OogieBoogie yep, we are buds now... unless she gets hungry, then I'm that mean old guy she puts up with😁
I usually just get seasonal allergies, but I've been sick twice this year already
@Bexsy i got a tickle in my throat Wednesday, and went down Friday.

Am currently a complete snotty sneeze box....urg.

I only ever got sick about once every 5 -10 years. It's be a bad one, high fever and all, but my body would knock it out in three days.
Now i get these lingering colds and crap each year. 🫤
EldritchFox · 41-45, F
I tend to go years without.

When I was underweight I got walking pneumonia every winter. I usually get one sinus infection a year from allergies. But otherwise I tend to avoid illnesses for long periods.

I never get the yearly vaccinations.
@EldritchFox yeah, i never get them either.
'Cept one year a coworker booked me a spot and i had it....and felt awful for a week and came down with it anyway months later.🫤
EldritchFox · 41-45, F
@OogieBoogie the only time I ever got covid was from someone that was vaccinated. Best to just be healthy in other ways.
@EldritchFox i totally agree💪
DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
I have felt exhausted last few days. I don’t often get sick. This might be allergies.
@DownTheStreet is it spring there?
acpguy · C
Could it be allergies? I get them every year in the spring from trees then later from weeds and grass. My husband even has a seasonal allergy during the winter from either the cold or something in the house.
@acpguy im pretty sure this is one of those season change colds - autumn has just turned on its chill this past week.

Plus the person i sit next to at moring break had a cold last week🙄.....so no thanks to them i caught it.

Its not bad.... just forever blowing my nose and its getting sore. Throat is a bit scratchy.
Big sneezes. I'll be fine in a day or so.
Kinda cheesed off i lost my weekend being sick 😑
It's kind of like a year round thing.
@NerdyPotato that must be kinda annoying as all fuck
@OogieBoogie meh, I don't know any better 🤷
bookerdana · M
Every time I say healthy as a 🏇..lets just say🤐
Magenta · F
I rarely get sick. I can go years without it then suddenly it hits me. It doesn't seem to follow any pattern.
I've never had any type of shot.
@Magenta i used to be like that. Never really had any flu shots except one year.

Maybe i just need to get fitter or sumthing?🤷‍♀
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
Randomly it seems, but I'm not often. I can go a year without getting sick

Are you sick now?? I hope it passes soon
@caPnAhab i jist have an annoying head cold atm: sinus pain, sneezing, scratchy throat and my nose just WON'T stop running despite the fact that it also chooses to be blocked up🙄...
And ive turned into a baritone😂
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@OogieBoogie That's quite the paradoxical, unpleasant situation.

Is there at least a bright side, like enjoying a day off? If you're sick then it wouldn't really be an enjoyment, would it?
@caPnAhab its kinda given me a reason to do fuck all except bribgtin wood and turn on the washing machine😂
Woulda been nice if it wasnt the weekend🤦‍♀
exexec · 70-79, C
I haven't been really sick in 30 or 40 years. I get the occasional cold that starts slowly and lasts about three days. I caught a cold a week ago and still have the cough, but that will probably be it for the year.
@exexec yeah, that's what i have at the mo - a head cold.
It just sucky and inconvenient.

And im SO TIRED of blowing my damn NOSE 😠
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
I get a flu and covid shot, one in each arm every year in early May. Never had Covid or Influenza. My choice, I go with the science not social media commentary.

I do get the odd cold once every so often. Probably from CrossFit or the great unwashed in the Supermarkets.
@KiwiBird i get at least one every year now.

But then, i work in the festering pit of germs they call public schooling😂
