Skin scarring from insulin injections

I’ve noticed I’ve been developing what I think is scarring on one of my thighs. I think it’s from insulin injections, as that’s the most common site I’ve been using lately.

I've switched to the smaller pen needles but never thought about injecting in my thigh it's been a rough road trust me I wish you the best if my A1C would get below 6 i would feel better plus lose weight.

@SW-User I’ve found that the thigh hurts less. Also, I have tiny needles. Use regular syringes, not a pen.

My doctor is pretty happy if my A1C is under 7. I’m about 6.5 right now.
You know that you need to mix it up so that you're not injecting into the same place all the time.

Give your thighs a break and monitor the issue for a while.

Are you possibly scratching the area in your sleep??? That could be another issue.
RockerDad · M
@HootyTheNightOwl it could be. It does itch some. So far it’s only on one side. I usually alternate thighs

Try giving yourself your insulin injections in the abdomen area.
Keep Moving the next injection at least a half inch from last injection site.
Have you considered an insulin injection pump?
RockerDad · M
@IPmyPants I’m type 2, and only take one long acting insulin injection daily.

Rotate your injection sites you may be developing scar tissue from using the same spot.

Try it areas recommended near navel, or between biceps and shoulder. Watch videos by doctors for exact areas.

i am glad i got it mostly under control by diet.. my diet sucks. keto and short fast

@markinkansas I use a low gi diet and exercise. You get used to the diet. Running in the countryside is up lifting..

@peterlee i am starting do weights again.. need something like ti chi for balance tho
peterlee · M
@markinkansas Be careful with weights. High repetitive, low resistance at our age.
