One small pet peeve…

It bugs me when well-meaning friends (especially those who don’t see how I actually eat) feel the need to police even my comments about food ("is that okay with your doctor ?") Having diabetes doesn’t mean you will never consume a gram of sugar or carb ever again lest you instantly drop dead. It means you take your meds, moderate your diet, exercise, lose weight if necessary, check your glucose faithfully and keep on top of your A1C (6.5 as of January 30, thank you).
I assume they mean well and just want to keep me around, but sheesh ! If I can’t even dream, what’s the point ? 😭

I am sorry, that’s frustrating. From what I can tell, you’re very knowledgeable about diabetes and it’s not my place to tell you what to eat.

They may just care a lot about you. Maybe you could tell them that you appreciate that they care but you have it under control.
