One small pet peeve…

It bugs me when well-meaning friends (especially those who don’t see how I actually eat) feel the need to police even my comments about food ("is that okay with your doctor ?") Having diabetes doesn’t mean you will never consume a gram of sugar or carb ever again lest you instantly drop dead. It means you take your meds, moderate your diet, exercise, lose weight if necessary, check your glucose faithfully and keep on top of your A1C (6.5 as of January 30, thank you).
I assume they mean well and just want to keep me around, but sheesh ! If I can’t even dream, what’s the point ? 😭

A good friend of mine has Diabetes and his wife is the "sugar police", she watches every thing he eats and drinks and what he does too. She's constantly giving him grief about it. He's like eff it, if I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die. He's reasonably careful and has little choice but to eat properly, take his meds, monitors his glucose levels and exercises regularly. Sure he cheats a little occasionally but you have to be able to enjoy life somewhat. He's my friend and is old enough to know what he needs to do without me being in his face about it too. You do what you need to be well and ok with yourself too! 😊
