Can diabetes cause weightloss

My boyfriend has been losing weight and he recently went for a blood test we are waiting for the results

Yes. Uncontrolled diabetes leaves too much sugar in the body. The body tries to get rid of it by not digesting properly as well as flushing it away. The thirst generated makes you drink more so the body has more liquid to dilute the sugar and flush it out of you. You then go to the toilet more. However the excess sugar and the body's need to get rid of it, also waste your muscles away so you lose muscle mass as well as fat.

Type 2 can result in amputations. That qualifies as weight loss.
