I am on an insulin pump.

I was just explaining to a dear friend in posts that I am soon to have a new insulin pump. The one I have has been great but it can't go in the water. I am a lifeguard and I know that if I had to go into the water to rescue someone, I would forget to take my pump off!
Also I have training in the pool each morning before college. I take my pump off and that's ok for about an hour because the training reduces my blood glucose but after that my blood glucose starts to rise because I am not getting my tiny bits of insulin that normal people get 24/7.
Today I was in the water for two hours. The first hour was great although I needed a bit of lucozade after half an hour but when I came out my blood glucose had gone up to 8 even though I was training. it's supposed to be 5.
I already have my new pumps. But I have to be trained how to use them. 20th July.

Oh I didnt realise your pump wasn't water-proof! No wonder you have so many issues with hypo. This should be a big improvement for you, then

@firefall Yes it will be. A pump is quite a sophisticated piece of equipment dealing with basal insulin and boluses. There is actually only one type of pump you can wear in the water.
