People say COVID has a tiny chance of killing you. But "tiny" is based on an overall percentage chance of out of 335,000,000 people...how many die? The more realistic percentage to look at is will YOU die if YOU get it? Those odds are 50-50. Some die...some don't....but the thing is you don't know what 50% group you are in when you are getting it. You only know that 10-12 days later. So just catching COVID gives "YOU" a 50-50 chance of being the one in the 1% or 2% that dies. Based on will YOU be the one that is lucky...or will YOU be the one that dies........it is perfectly valid for your family to wish you luck.

@anythingoes477 That's a bit oversimplified. There are only two options of winning the jackpot in the lottery too: some do, some don't. But I wouldn't say the odds are 50-50. For COVID, you're probably not nearly as far off. In most countries the odds of catching it are probably around 50-50. But in some countries it's almost guaranteed that you catch it within the next 3 months.
@NerdyPotato For you..........individually........the odds of winning the lottery is 50-50. You will either win money...or you won't. Nothing inbetween. If one looks at the chances out of billions of people..........that is different...as I said. But if you catch COVID......who care about "billions"? You only care about your own chances. Will you be the one who dies....or one of the ones that gets a mild case? Those that gamble and think if I catch it....I do..........are literally putting themselves in a spot where they individually have a 50-50 chance of being the one person they know who will die. The thing is.........once you find out...it's too late.

@anythingoes477 No, even for me the odds are not 50-50. The odds of winning are about 1 in a billion and the odds of not winning are 999,999,999 out of a billion. Yes, there are only two possible outcomes, but they are not equally likely.
Don't let those hours of research go to waste...

I went to a drive through testung centre. An hour waiting in the hot sun. Realised about 20 minutes in I had the car seat heater on. At high. Realised 40 minutes later when it was my turn to move foward that not only had I cooked myself, I'd drained my car battery doing it

Good luck!
