He explained to Canadian Toronto Sun that the spread of SARS-CoV-2 was ′′ most likely ′′ due to an ′′ accidental ′′ accident at the Institute of Virology in Wuhan China.
At the same time, Metzl acknowledges that there is ′′ no irrefutable evidence ′′ for his theory.

There is a field of research called 'gain of function' research where some scientists increase the virulence of viruses, which is highly controversial. We know the Wuhan Institute of Virology has been involved in 'gain of function' research in bat coronaviruses."
In simplified terms, viruses are given new functions in so-called gain of function research (GOF). Ten years ago, the case of virologist Ron Fouchier became known from Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. Together with his team, the virologist had genetically manipulated highly pathogenic influenza viruses of type H5N1 (known as ′′ avian flu virus ′′) in such a way that they could be transmitted through droplet infection during animal experiments with ferrets - thus tracing the influence of mutations on the pathways of infections of the pathogens.
′′ A handful of changes in the inheritance of viruses was enough to make them both deadly and extremely contagious."
