covid virus

I think we should all be following Singapore when it comes to covid they seem to have kept this dam virus at bay .Mask are worn at all times the minute you step out the front door .Social distancing is stuck to everyone carries hand sanitiser etc .Their testing everyone regularly and they have had only a few deaths .This proves that the precautions implimented if adhered to do work and they fine and arrest people who do not stick to the rules uk needs to follow their lead .Their economy is all open because the regulations are mandatory and working .So to all those idiots with their stupid theories saying the regulations dont work YOUR WRONG and Singapore is proof of this .

I'd like to know how do they treat the sick though. 58 432 infected and only 29 dead? 🤨 If the number of the infected was low I would understand but 58 432 is not just a bunch.

@CrazyMusicLover Anyone tests positive they isolate and stay isolated till they test negative .
Rhodesianman · 56-60, M
@CrazyMusicLover Its probably caught early so easier to treat before people start suffering symptoms.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Rhodesianman Yes and in other countries it works exactly the same and they are found dead in their apartments.

@CrazyMusicLover Dont know maybe governments should ask them

But that would be interesting to know what they can do because we were told there's not much to do. Since it's virus antibiotics won't help. Maybe people in isolation are regularly checked on and get quick professional help when it's needed. Maybe they strictly isolate the elderly and people with an immunodeficiency preemptively. I would like to know.

@CrazyMusicLover Yep, straight to the ICU if in bad shape or in solo quarantine if not. Singapore implemented (if a bit shittily in the case of migrant workers) the lessons learnt from the Sars outbreak.

also, yes we do have a rather strong arm state, and we also have a small population. You can do a lot of stuff with 5 million folk than with 17 million( ? current pop of the UK?)

Contact tracing is not an opt in/opt out, everyone has to do it. If they call you up and you give funny answers or are not in the premises you're supposed to be in they'll haul you to court and throw the book and a few bookmarks at you.

We're a naturally compliant breed due to the generations of learned fear

@Longpatrol Thank you for the explanation. We have 5 million population too but a rather shitty system. I'd say this is actually our first wave but it got pretty bad around and after Christmas. If I remember well we were alongside New Zealand who also had quite low numbers until September, then we started rising in the chart. Now it's around 100 new deaths per day. We are definitely not as disciplined but the real problem is probably poor quality and accessibility to health care. Further, allegedly people seek help when it's too late or not at all and they are found dead at their home because they lived alone and there was no one to take care of them. Allegedly sometimes they die of starvation or dehydration. This is a thing the government has no power over here. How do they prevent this happening in Singapore? Is there some kind of system where people who were tested positive have to regularly confirm they are okay in self isolation otherwise someone would be sent to check on them?

@CrazyMusicLover the social welfare system here is pretty strong so while we do have cases of elderly folk dying alone(not of covid) they're normally staying with family (those Asian family values etc) so if they're sic it gets known pretty fast.

yep there is. Not sure about the frequency of checks, I believe in the places where travellers isolate it's done daily

@Longpatrol That's really great. It's so sad when you know the person could have been still alive if only they had someone to take care of them or get them help.
