Probably be going to some garage sales.

@cherokeepatti I am amazed your state is allowing them! I'm jealous.

@4meAndyou Why shouldn’t they?

@cherokeepatti They have not been mentioned or included in the phased re-opening plan in my state. Thinking about it, they will be outside, and if you don't crowd the other shoppers and keep your hands clean and don't touch your face...why not?

@Stereoguy they probably have signs up for social distancing, they do here. They passed a mask mandate in this city but they made an exemption for people who have medical conditions where a mask would impede breathing. I walked into a Braum’s ice cream place the next day with the boy, they had signs on every door saying masks were required for entry and nobody said anything to either of us. We got our ice cream an sat down & ate it. Nobody sitting down at the table had a mask on either. Why make someone come to a restaurant and wear one?

@Stereoguy Indoors? But it's the Trump rally that's the problem, right? Well, they probably WANT the gun show to be held, and then, if cases spike, they can say it was all the NRA members and gun owners who caused the problem.

@4meAndyou yeah exactly. A few have been advertised saying “Masks required”...there have only been a few lately so I haven’t gone to any.

@Stereoguy well why shouldn’t they with what is happening.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Stereoguy I am starting to go shopping in the next city, they have an area about a mile long on one street that has most of the stores I like to shop at anyway. I am sick of the way the mayor has managed the quarantine etc. They’ve caused 5 police officers to quit so far and we needed more police than what we had to begin with. There is a petition to recall half the city council members and the mayor going around since yesterday. I’ll sign it.

@Stereoguy Here they made masks mandatory in restaurants only while you're moving, the moment you reach your table and of course throughout the meal you're allowed to take it off. It would be hard eating through that 🙈

@Stereoguy If I have to wear a mask to do it I won’t volunteer. I thought about it but someone would probably call in on me. I have asthma and the heat would only make it worse for me. I was in a store on Thursday in Oklahoma City and a lady walked all over filling up her basket. I got in line to check out and she came behind me, sounded like she was breathing hard. She took her mask off and stood in line. Talked to her a bit, this is a cruel thing to do to people.

@cherokeepatti No one enjoys wearing masks, but unfortunately the alternative for many if they get sick is intubation, which is much much worse (my nurse friends tell me it often leads to permanent damage over the one caused directly by the virus). Another big problem is that they don't protect much the wearer, but those around you from your exhalations if you're asymptomatic, so even if one chooses to be careful yet people around them are not, the mask is useless. Empirical evidence at least from my area, in which they were made mandatory since March (and still are in indoor places) and where most people complied, by looking at the numbers now, suggests that public masking worked in significantly reducing the spread. We're going up by +5~10 new cases / day with more than 1 million tests (+10 k/day, averagely) on a 5M population, while back in March/April we had even +580 cases/day. At least those who don't have respiratory issues should wear them, at least in places where the spread rate is high.

@Elessar I’m doing my shopping in the next city. They can have my sales taxes too.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@cherokeepatti Well, as you prefer.
