It's actually evolving, becoming asymptomatic for longer to counter self isolation, an evolution which also militates against track and trace. The places with the strictest social distancing will find themselves against mutations that infect at longer distances. There's ultimately no escape except for an eventual vaccine by which time poverty will bring its own excess mortality. Best we can hope for is that hospitalisation comes in ripples rather than tsunami.
