Any diabetic here have neuropathy?

If so, what do you do to help or alleviate the numbness? My sister is suffering so much daily. She has horrible pain too but she said the numbness is just atrocious. It's heartbreaking seeing her like this. Her doctor offers only Gabapentin which didn't help. And they say get your sugar down, but her body is so sensitive to insulin, her sugar stays high, because it's dangerous taking any actual beneficial levels of insulin. Any tips to lower pain or numbness welcome..

You and I have been down this road. I have no advice any more. I honestly think she started out type 3c like me and they missed it. She is brittle. I'm liable. Two different sides. Is she or was she ever on Pancreatic enzyme replacement. Something fortunately I don't need. I guess I'm saying she is where she is because this was incorrectly managed from the beginning. That's my opinion and it's worth its weight in toilet paper.

The pain management that could help somewhat is IV Alpha Lipoic Acid, ALA but that requires prescription and it's not available in the US. The pills which I take for maintenance won't do anything for her.

@Gibbon She really wants to try alpha lipoic but her doctor said the only way it works really is through IV in a hospital. And no doctor sets it up, some even didn't know you get it on IV. No she never had Pancreatic enzyme replacement. Is it a prevalent procedure for labile cases?

@Baybreeze it's an effect of type 3C. It's the inability to digest fats properly without the enzymes. There's a specific test for it. Type 3c is also the type that tends to go towards being brittle, which she definitely is, or labile, which I am. I can control my levels.. But now she has been hyper sensitive for so long I don't think it's reversable. The neuropathy is definitely a one way street. Like I said I think the IV ALA is even available in the US

Recently I went from 7.9 to 6.9 to 5.9 on my A1C and noticed the neuropathy in my feet improving!

@GoFish We've Googled, gone on FB neuropathy forums, etc ..even the doctor does not know a lot or even treatment for neuropathy. 😕 So we ask anyone anywhere, unfortunately.
