Hanta update

I attended another webinar today. This is my little summary:

It is extremely unlikely that anyone will come in contact with anyone from the cruise ship and/or become exposed to the hanta-virus.
It is currently considered a tier 1 pathogen, an easy virus to kill with routine disinfective agents.
There is no point of service diagnostic test, mostly done with PCR and serology in specialized labs. They are working to develop testing that can be done I clinical labs.
There are 13 regional special pathogen treatment facilities in the US. NETEC.org The website is up and functional with a section about hantavirus.
There is still very little scientific information. If there is suspicion a person is infected, the best precaution is full personal protections with approved N95 masks and eye protection.
