I have Parkinson’s Disease

It started in my right hand trembling then my left hand. Got so bad I couldn’t eat. 3 years now my hands tremble so bad I can’t write, I stumble when I walk and my speech is impaired. Tired all the time and not able to sleep good. It is hard. I take medication but it doesn’t help. Keeping my mind together is really the hardest. Church helps a lot. Without that I would be lost. Thank you

my heart goes out to you. Do you see a physician who specializes in the disease? I am an academic medicine snob, and would suggest that if you have not already seen someone at a medical school who does research in the field, try to find one.

@samueltyler2 that is a great idea. Next time I see my PCP I will ask. Probably would have to go out of town.

@Princess54 it may be worth it. There are a lot of institutions doing research, and there are many new approaches to therapy.

@Princess54 i am a retired academic physician. I was often seen as a last resort when people didn't know where else to go, who to see. I have done some research into the treatable causes of the movement disorder called PD broadly, sometimes it turned out to be arrestable disease.

@samueltyler2 The town I live in doesn’t have any good neurologist. The one I saw put me on carb/levo 10mg 3 times a day. Sent me to my PCP and that was it. I thought that was the best they could do.
