I have pneumonia

This is the first time I've ever had pneumonia and I don't know what to expect. How long does this last? I really need to get back to work and the gym. Has anyone else had it? I have been sick for about 3 days now- thought it was a bad cold until I went to the doctor yesterday and got X-rays and they said it was pneumonia. I haven't even been out of bed except to go to bathroom and doctor. I have to go pick up my prescription antibiotics before the pharmacy closes in a few hours and I am really dreading getting out.

I had it when I was 13. Bilateral. I remember that I had fever that gave me pretty bad dreams and I had to push the temperature down with cold showers and cold wet towels on my arms because meds didn't work. When I went to the shower I was weak and dizzy as if I was drunk. When I felt better, my father used to heat my back with some red light lamp and knocked on both left and right side for about 10 minutes to prevent adhesions.

Anyway, I don't remember having any horrible cough from pneumonia. The worst cough I ever had was last spring when I had bronchitis and I suspect it was actually pertussis.

@CrazyMusicLover interesting- I don't feel like I have fever at all- just horrible congestion, runny nose, cough, weakness and now my chest is rattling when I breathe. I am about to get out of bed and go pick up my prescription and I dread it

I got it once but I was a particular case, I didn't get a proper diagnosis and I've stayed 10 days in bed at home. I was forced to visit the hospital when I got apnea and couldn't breathe and despite being in the hospital it took them few days to diagnose me. I've stayed a week in the hospital and then it took me a couple of months to get back to normal.
So take care of yourself and take your healing days seriously and don't rush to go out. Let your body rest
But of course every case is very different!!!
Give yourself plenty of vitamins through fruit and veggies and soups and rest.

@being I haven't eaten at all, although I did go to sonic and get a medium onion rings after I left the doctor yesterday
I've had it a couple of times. It takes a couple of weeks to get over it. It's very serious. You need to take ur meds and take good care of urself. Ur going to be very weak and the congestion is awful. Coughing is very rough and deep. Watch for passing out from coughing so hard. And be cautious of collapsing lungs. Just plan on taking it easy for a couple of weeks.
