I'm so scared

My boyfriend has been taken to hospital again. He has swollen glands in his neck. He can't eat or drink properly as everything just comes straight back up. He keeps on burping too. At first the hospital told him it was tonsilitis and gave him antibiotics. But it doesn't seem to me to be as simple as that. Now he's back at the hospital and I'm scared its something more serious as he smokes. I tried to get some support from my Mum but she just said its his own fault. I'm really worried and my anxiety is so bad.
