Finally some great sleep

After a stressful day yesterday was able to sleep like a baby.

Yesterday was trach change day and is always stressful for me. I've been having a tracheostomy since I was 12 and whenever it needs to be changed it stresses me out. After so many years of having one, I would think that i would be used to the tube being changed.. but I'm not. Even with the stress, all is ok

Could you ask if theres anything they can do to make it less stressful?
Im glad you had a good sleep coz thats important

Could they not give you a small dose of valium first?
@AntisocialTroll Benzodiazapines slow breathing and could be detrimental when tubes are changed, she needs to be fully alert as well. Read my own comment to her.

@NativePortlander1970 I know, which is why I said a small dose, 2mg is what I was thinking, nothing heavy duty.
@AntisocialTroll 2mg is not a small dose, that would knock her out for an entire day. I take lorazepam for anxiety to deal with my terminal cardiopulmonary disease, 0.5mg and at almost 300 pounds that makes me loopy.
is it painful.
@nevergiveup Not so much painful as a nasty discomfort, read my own comment.
@NativePortlander1970 I have never had a trach but been intensive care a few times and had a breathing tube down my throat. Not nice when they pull it out.
@nevergiveup Intubations aren't fun either, did you drink throat coat tea to help after they were removed? My late Fiancee swore by it, professional singing artists and rappers use it.
I had a trach two months before my third birthday back in early 1973, I somewhat remember it and how it frightened me. I was one of the lucky ones that got off it after only a month, but was so scared I'd be put on a ventilator again. I wish there was something I could say to help you ease your stress, but if you want I can send you Strength and Light to help you through all of your future changes :) 🤗

@NativePortlander1970 thank you. Nice to have someone comment who gets it. I'm lucky in that I'm not 100% vent dependent. I know people with SMA who are vent dependent
@maythesunrise (((((HUGS))))) You're so very welcome 🤗
