Sci Fi fans and readers of Dune by Frank Herbert: I found out this morning that I would have flunked the Gom Jabbar. :(

The IV nurse at the hospital hurt me SO badly trying to put the IV into my hand that I yelled, and cried, and made a nuisance of myself. They were heaving great sighs of disgust, and the IV nurse told me I was a grown woman and should behave that way. Of course, pain that intense and that prolonged takes all of that out of your control.

Some nurses are better than others at doing such things. When my daughter was in the ER the nurse poked her 3 times and couldn’t do it. Then they had another one and she did it. She was laying there crying silent tears. They never had a problem at the lab at the health center where I took her for over 2 years. First time every time.

@cherokeepatti This IV nurse TOLD me she was really good...but she was not. She did manage to find a vein in my hand when all my veins had more or less disappeared, but she SLAPPED my hand to try to bring up the vein and even hurt me THAT way. Other IV nurses bring in hot, wet, heated pads to do the same thing.

I think she was just a sadist.

@4meAndyou Yeah right so good she has to brag to you to try to convince you. The good ones don’t need to brag, you’d be telling her she was good like my daughter did that lab tech at the clinic I took her too. She told her every time.
