My husband just tested positive for Covid

So my husband tested positive for Covid last night. I am sure he will be fine, he’s healthy.

It’s me I am really worried about. I am immunocompromised and I have been told to try to avoid it at all costs because I could very likely end up hospitalized, with long covid and even the worst case possible.

I have been fighting this super bug amoeba infection in my sinuses for 5 months and I still have not been able to get rid of it, I just finished my 3rd course of antibiotics a few days ago that was a 28 day course.

That antibiotic isn’t working for me anymore so my ENT did more swabs on the 12th to figure out which antibiotic is next but those swabs take 7 to 10 days to culture. The infection is moving up my face and closer to my brain which we are trying to prevent.

Now I just feel even more stressed with him having Covid, I have cried a few times over.

Just FML 😢

Oh no! You don`t need this especially with your immune system already compromised. He needs to isolate from everyone else, especially you and masks. I am because I got this the other day.

It sounds like you have the best plan possible in place already, limiting him to his own area of the house. Call your doctor and see what he or she recommends knowing your health concerns.

@QueenOfTheNerds I am trying not to freak out but I am a little. I have been worried about this infection moving into my brain and now this. I will call my doctor on Monday. If I get it, I can’t even take the anti-vitals. I am just worried.

So long as you stay separated, you should be okay. My wife got it and we live in a single bedroom apartment. She stayed in the bedroom, me in the living room, which is just one room apart. She got better after little over a week and I never caught it at all.

Still, sorry he had to end up catching it. I understand how stressful it is. Just hope you’ll both be okay and he’s able to get well soon so you can it behind you. Good luck.

I do feel angry at your husband if he was careless about exposing himself or if he is being any less careful than he needs to be at this time.

@SW-User Thank you. I am pretty upset that he couldn’t be bothered to wear a mask but I honestly didn’t think he would because that would mean he was thinking of someone other than himself.

I'm really sorry to hear about your infection and Covid in your family.

Your doctor will know best, but the anti-viral that Fauci and Biden both took (Paxlovid) works pretty well. They both had this "rebound" but it seemed to be a minor sort of rebound.

There were 35 patients who were immunocompromised in our cohort ... Of note, paxlovid prescription within 5 days of diagnosis had a faster clearance of viral load as measured by ...

In summary, this real-life study in Chinese patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection called for action to implement early treatment of paxlovid for high-risk patients who are immunocompromised,5 including those who are hospitalised, and unvaccinated in particular, in order to facilitate viral eradication.

I have a super bug that’s very resistant to antibiotics. It’s resistant to cipro so that’s not an option. I just finished 28 days of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid. It’s now resistant to that.

It’s not a viral infection it’s caused by an amoeba. 99% of sinus infections are viral and this is not viral.
