Wish I could get a service dog

I find it sad that there are people who pass their dogs off as service dogs, and the person hasn’t 1)Trained their dog to be a service dog and 2)Don’t even have a disability that may require a service dog, to perform specific tasks, for them.

This is very dangerous, especially for those who actually have disabilities and need service dogs to help them get around. The untrained, out of control dog, can do harm to not only the people nearby, but also to the real service dog at work.

It’s sad knowing this, is the reason I choose not to have a service dog for my disability. My kids want me to have a dog, and the only way I would have gotten one, was so that he or she be used as a service dog. I would’ve felt safer having a service dog, had we lived in a world, where people were more considerate of those, who require help, that they don’t need. I wish people would think about that, but I guess that’s too much to ask.

With my multiple disabilities, my family wants me to get a service dog. I always tell my family no because don't know how to treat them. People don't understand a service dog is to help the person they're with, it isn't a pet

@CarliG you can train them yourself, I believe.

And right, service dogs are at work.

I have 2 dogs, I have never passed them off as Service dogs. Cause that would be dishonest but also they're as badly behaved as their owner.

I wanted to get an emotional support dog or cat because of my severe PTSD but it's a process and you have to train the pet.

@Chickie it is a process. I agree.
