Yes, "soared" is the sort of word headline writers love to use!
The disease has been known for years but not previously in the UK, but in a way it's not all that surprising it's appeared here. The increasing numbers of people travelling back and forth around the world over the last few decades must increase the risk of diseases going on tour too.
At least this one looks more contagious than infectious.
