Why does smoking cannabis still scare so many people?

Smoked, the effects on the cardiovascular system are not benign. While maybe unscientific sampling, among habitual users I’ve been around, their lives seem to revolve around getting high and staying high.

Being illegal doesn’t prevent substance abuse and addiction.

@RedBaron The question wasn’t about the legality of its use nor whether it is more or less benign than alcohol. It was specifically about people’s fear of it. I gave my perception.
