I have always been taught that broccoli is generally healthy or even a symbol of healthy food

Until I learned about goitrogens and how they can interfere with thyroid function.

Well, if all sorts of food can kill you then I would rather die happily choking on a juicy hamburger
Just eat it in moderation ,I eat a lot of it and my thyroid is fine
@Reserved that's very weird for a health professional to do ,unless if ig your thyroid is quite bad but still. I use pink salt for everything. I steam my broccoli and season it w olive oil freshly squeezed lemon juice n salt
@PepsiColaP She suggested iodized salt and avoiding broccoli and cauliflower and any of such cruciferous vegetables, which make sense because they are known to make the thyroid gland weak by blocking iodine absorption and my high TSH indicates a low-key hypothyroidism likely because of iodine deficiency...

One more interesting thing that I read though is that cooking these vegetables can significantly reduce their goitrogenic compounds, making them less likely to interfere with the thyroid, so good thing that you steam them. I used to eat them raw in salad, so perhaps that contributed too
@Reserved I have never ate them raw or knew that it was possible for cauliflower and broccoli to be eaten raw
