Buy prepared foods with lower added salt (judged from the ingredients list on the packet), don't add salt yourself.

Salt does occur naturally in some foods of course, and we don't normally need add more.

@ArishMell First it was Flour, now Salt - I suspect Sugar will be next...I cut out salty foods and BP dropped 15 pts in less than a week - so that seems to be the good news....

@fun4us2b I'm trying to cut down too. I have reduced the sugar but still have a sweet tooth! On the other hand I can't remember when I last added salt to anything other than a cake mix where the recipe specified it.

@ArishMell It's really high in packaged foods and cheeses -It's even present in Almond milk...not high, but there which surprised me when I started reading labels.

@fun4us2b Yes - used as a flavour enhancer I think, suggesting not much flavour to start with.

Most cheeses have salt added, and always have done.

Some of the largest differences are between the "big name" cereals and sauces and their supermarket "own-brand" equivalents, the latter having significantly less sugar and salt.
