I eat primarily vegetarian to avoid red meat for protein and this example you show us here is one of the healthiest choices you can make, as long as you avoid eating meat.

..but it's very true! Shrimp, lobster, clams, they all live on the bottom, not the top. They all eat what falls to the bottom, not what rises to the top.
What falls to the bottom is dead aquatic life. The reason it falls to the bottom is because it no longer contains oxygen within the cells of the meat.
Fish float when they're dead because of the trapped oxygen within their cells, but when the fish decays sufficiently whilst floating on the surface deceased, eventually enough O2 is released which then causes the carcass to drift to the bottom where it is then eaten by shrimp, lobster and clams.
But I hear they're all delightful with a glass of white wine, so what do I know?!

@swirlie I like shrimp and crab, love curry made with shrimp. I've never tried lobster but I could easily live without shellfish. Having read what you just told me, i won't be hurrying to buy any soon.
It's probably a good thing that I don't drink wine very often 😁

I don't drink alcohol at all, never did. I've always been more chicken/turkey ocean fish in my vegetarian style diet. Another thing is, heavy dissolved metals sink to the bottom where they settle out, which is also why shellfish are at the lowest rung of the aquatic chain as far as a food source goes.

The thing is, I'm not really pushing a vegetarian style diet for others, but only for myself. I've been an athlete since childhood and as I got into my teen years as a gymnast, I had to maintain a very low body mass index (ultra low fat) to achieve my goals involving gymnastics. This was followed by acrobatic gymnastics while in my university days. I just stuck with the diet ever since, though I still do gymnastics everyday at the gym, so it's all still very relevant in my life!

@swirlie Health and fitness is important, I wouldn't dream of damaging my body with junk food and fatty meats. I hike a lot and sometimes suffer with hip pain after several miles so keeping the weight off helps with that.
