Do you refresh your spices?

I needed to repair my lazy susan, so I had to empty it first. I discovered some very old spices, with 'best by' dates of 2009, 2012, and 2014, so I threw about 30% of my spices away. 😳😬

I think there’s a couple at the back of the the drawer date back to the nineties.

I’ve had to do that but since I cook almost everything from scratch now I use a lot more herbs and spices. I bought about 10 bottles of ginger and use a bottle every month or 6 weeks, it won’t get old.

Not really the spices I usually use won’t last long enough to outdate and the other ones I don’t really care to spend the money on more to throw out later.

I must. For some reason son and daughter in law will drive past a few dozen stores to come borrow something

Yes,also i use a black marker and write expiration dates on the label so it is easy to see. :)

You know the “best by” label is just there to get you to buy it more often, right? Lol
My crushed red pepper. It loses its strength after some time.

The ones I use never get a chance to go out of date ☺️😋
