I finally have decided to get motivated and start beginning to care for my physical health. I have weighed too much for too long. So yesterday I started weight watchers to help me in the process.

I need to lose quite a bit of weight. I have diabetes, so weight loss with more exercise should help get that more under control.

Anyway if anybody else here is in the same process, I've joined that journey. If you used Weight Watchers has it been a positive experience?

Statistically, they don't have a good success rate. One study (in the UK) found that only 8% of members managed to get to target weight and keep it off after 5 years.

@Fluffybull as a former member of WW, I wholeheartedly agree!!! 😌

@Ambroseguy80 I had a friend who was in WW and she talked about food "points" instead of fibre, protein, calories etc and seemed to think it was ok to eat only Mars Bars in a day as long as you stayed within so many "points" 😆😆😆😆😆

@Fluffybull that’s just buffoonery.

@Ambroseguy80 Yes, it's not learning about food or educating yourself to change your habits long-term.

@Fluffybull well…. Nobody at WW ever told me it was okay to eat a Mars bar diet, she adopted that all her own. I would think that if she truly followed the point system, she would not have been able to eat so many chocolate bars. On the other hand, I did feel that the point system was flawed in many respects…. It doesn’t really translate to guaranteed weight loss.
