why is body count such a big thing nowadays?

I swear it didn’t use to be a thing that was ever spoke about or anybody else’s business. why is everyone always going on about body count? you get really ran through men that say they want a girl with a low body count because “why would i pay for something she gave others for free” signifying they only wanna put effort into a relationship for sex and not emotional connection. maybe it’s from insecurity that they feel they won’t be able to compare to other guys? i feel like “gave away for free” is such a weird way to put it as well considering the woman are aloud to enjoy sex too. i understand virgins wanting other virgins but that’s it

To me I've never really thought about 'body count' with dating and relationships. I can't do sex for the sake of sex and nothing else.

Mine is under 5 and I'm 57. It will never reach 10. My average for sex is less than thrice a year averaged over my adult life to date

Re my 1st ex I have no idea. Re my second ex I have no idea.

But it has to be presumed that as we get older when we link up with people there's going to be an incremental increase in 'body count' for both people just based on stats and age.

There doesn't seem to be much validated research done on body count for 50 y/o men and women vs say 40 y/o 30 y/o 20 y/o.

Some women are obcessed with using it as a 'badge of honour' when being social esp with other women. I don't know of any other men who brag about it for them but I'm not really social and don't have friends so that kind of topic would never get mentioned.
