A lot of people on another website said I was wrong for telling my date “I think about it” when he asked for a 2nd date. Are they right?

So this guy I’ve been seeing is so amazing. He’s funny, charming, loves kids and is a hard worker. He doesn’t put up with anybody’s shit. Sorry excuse my language. I’ve known him since January when I started working there. We talked a couple times and I had the courage to finally ask him out last Monday and he accepted. We had our first date last Friday and it was fantastic. We had dinner and we talked so much. He asked if I wanted to go on a second date. I told him I’d think about it and he understood. We have been texting each other a lot. He really likes talking to me. So yesterday I told him I could like to go on a second date and we got another date but not until next Saturday because he’s busy this weekend. I’m so excited! Yes we’re taking it slow.
A couple people said I was messed up for what I said and I am giving him mixed signals. No I wasn’t. God. One said I wasn’t wrong. I do admit he looked hurt when I said that but he understood. I didn’t mean to upset him. He did say that he was hurt when I said “I think about it”. I didn’t mean to hurt him. I wanted to make sure I made a good choice.
