what is it with some men?

My colleague just mentioned something which happened to her & has happened to me in the past with online dating...

Start chatting to someone, conversation is flowing...ye arrange to met & last minute they block u... no excuse of something has come up or whatever... twice it has happened when i've gone to the bar or wherever ye have agreed to meet & they just block u immediately without showing up?!

Its sooo rude & respectful....

Pretty common online dating experience, unfortunately. Ghosting has become too normalized.

this isn’t exclusive to just men
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@SW-User do know some women who do it - it still doesn't make it right
SW-User
@BondGirl84 I certainly do
And no it doesn’t
plungesponge · 41-45, M
Lol is that a thing? Sounds like an Incel hobby
Pherick · 41-45, M
I would guess they have a girlfriend or wife? That the flirting and sexting was fun, but the second you want to meet up, that crosses a line for them, and instead of explaining or whatever, they just ghost?

Would be my guess.
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@Pherick it was his idea to meet up!
Pherick · 41-45, M
@BondGirl84 Then maybe he is just a weird dude and you dodged a bullet? I have no idea ;)
How rude and just...strange.

Do you think the craziness of ppl due to pandemic-enforced LACK of social interaction has enhanced this? Do you think people now have social anxiety, esp. about a big date?
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@SomeMichGuy very possible
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
Catfish most likely

You should ask "what's wrong with people ?" .. as women too do it equally. It does frustrate when people ghost without a closure..

But that's how life is .. like a cigarette puffed and chucked or a can of beer..

Move on to the next.

"What is it with some men?"
What, and you think that women aren't capable of Grade One mind games and headfuckery?
I rather feel that the title should read "what is it with some people"
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@Philth i stand corrected! What is it with some people! :)
th3r0n · 41-45, M
Never heard of that one

Usually it was the women who disappear when a guy gets too into them and emotional
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@th3r0n i did that to a guy once, the guy i met after him acted how i did & i defo backed off mainly cos i saw so much of him in me, scared me how i behaved!
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@BondGirl84 strong emotions are only a bad thing when not tempered with self control and morals
th3r0n · 41-45, M
(Still scares women though due to bad experiences)
I don't find this a men problem cause everyone is doing this. Everyone is lonely but people just continue to stop talking and block people. Humans are losing connection to each other.
workinghard · 51-55, M
IF they have the opportunity to meet up with a lovely lady, then the must be a few sandwiches short of a picnic to not show up.
Bklynbadboy12 · 31-35, M
Wow does that really happen
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@Bklynbadboy12 unfortunately
Bklynbadboy12 · 31-35, M
@BondGirl84 Bit that makes no sense why go out the way to meet you juat to stand you up
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@Bklynbadboy12 i dunno, maybe they see it as entertainment? Dunno only guessing
Maybe they did show up and saw you
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@SStarfish always a possibility
caccoon · 36-40
Sometimes I would cancel on people, if I got too nervous. But I would let them know beforehand.

Likely they were too afraid to say anything, so blocking is easier. And you know why? Cause dudes freak out and some of them actually get pretty shitty and vicious when you tell them you're deciding not to meet up.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@caccoon I hope you carry pepper spray or some sort of something with you

When I was working and walking to and from work, I always had my pocket knife and pepper spray in front pocket of my bag.I still carry it when out with my kids.

People can be crazy, please be careful ❤️
caccoon · 36-40
@WaryWitchWandering Thank you!! I hope you never have to use it 💙 I hope you're safe too

I walk with friends almost everywhere 💙
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@caccoon smart ❤️

I think most men on dating sights are just looking for a "hook up". If I have a woman willing to meet at my hotel and one that wants to meet at a library, the choice is easy. It is rude to just quit responding to someone you have made plans with though.

I think that's called taking the fantasy as far as it can possibly go. These are either kids with terminal acne, or they are monstrously fat, or they don't have all their front teeth.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
Guy sounds gay to me
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
They are incapable of honest, adult communication. They found someone else who fit their bill better and they were incapable of actually just saying so.

Also, they don't want to have to deal with any accountability.

@swirlie believing their origins isn’t needed to feel wicked intent or good, this I do not deny

Though finding the true origin and receiving the Ruach Hakodesh as the living fire that is the spirit of the living God, God of Y’srael, as it was written I received power, and through this spirit of the living God have I cast out demons, neither one nor two or even just three

And I know myself to be helpless against such without the living God, but his power has done things that have blown my mind beyond my conceptions
