Said person should tell your friend they are not interested in your friend in that way but likes you. Either your friend will or will not share this information with you, if they do you can ask what their thoughts are about the matter, if they don't tell you and said person confirms they told your friend about it, then you may have to wonder if your friend is truly your friend by keeping the information from you. I would not recommend just getting involved with the person your friend is interested in without them knowing what's going on.

If I felt the same way I wouldn't automatically say they're off limits, but I'd definitely talk to my friend first. You can't control who someone catches feelings for. If they don't like my friend but they like me and I like them, that's not really anyone's fault.
I'd just be honest have the awkward conversation and let them know what's going on. She might be hurt, and that's completely fair, but I'd rather be honest with my friend regardless

I've had that happen but he liked her ,not me. I was sad, I was actually infatuated with this man, but then I love my friend (loved, ex friend) and I said to her "I wouldn't mind if you get together "
At the end of the day, he didn't like me, so he's not my match.
If I'm on the other side , I'd hate it and probably I'd wouldn't touch. There are too many men out there to mess up any good friendship.

Friendships first. 💙
Yeah. They’d be off limits to me cause I’m a loyal friend.

I feel like a conversation should be had but ultimately we grown

Yes, that person is off limits because of your loyalty to your friend.

Feelings aren't something anyone can reserve. But when it's a close friend, I think the kindest choice is considering the cost.
I value a genuine friendship more than a relationship that starts by hurting someone I care about.

That's up to you. Do you care more about yourself or your friend's feelings?
GoFish ·
why should they be off limit to you if your friend liked them but are not liked in that way by them? it would be another matter if they were together but it could be a problem latter on i guess if anyone got serious so it depends do you like the person or your friend more?
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
I'm sure this happens a lot. I don't think they are off limits. That's life.
StarLily · 51-55, F
Off limits, wouldn't do that to my friend.

Off limits to me. The friend and I might have a talk about it and they'd probably say they don't care since he's not into them anyway, but I'd care more about my friend than some random so I'd decline him/her/them 🤷🏾

Depends on if i really liked the person.

You know - I've been trying to figure out that same bullshit since the 80s. At least I know the same bullshit is still around.
I used to think it was because he or she like this or them and not this or them and kept me from trying.
I'm like fuck it
Get it out of the way. Short and sweet. Life too short to play "Fuck Around And Find Out" game

I wouldn't get involved. I wouldn't want to risk hurting my bro.
CookieCrumbs · F
Off limits, no questions here.
I’d choose friendship first. And turn down any advances of the guy. This has happened to me a few times, both offline and online.
If I was friends (nothing more) with the guy first, that would be his responsibility to let whoever he was getting entangled with that I wasn’t any threat.

Too much drama, I'd stay away from both for a while
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@faery True, it's problematic.
EldritchFox · 41-45, F
Off limits. Just wouldn't do that to a friend. Unless there was some crazy love connection then I'd talk to them about it.
