I got curious about Amazon Kindles and watched some reviews, and I don't understand why people buy them

For 280 bucks you can get a kindle... with color... wow. That's the first kindle with color that they've created and it was launched in 2024. For this price you can get a decent laptop... why would you want a kindle? Please let me know if you have one, and why.
