Has Culture Stopped Evolving?

Take the last twenty-five years. It’s like nothing has really changed. In fact, it seems everyone is just copying each other. Now, if one looks at music from 1975 to 2000, things were still moving along. New stuff was happening. There was still improvisation and originality. No more, it seems. Everyone is doing the same thing.

smartphones became mainstream. electric vehicles. ipods. the instant pot. CRISPR gene editing therapy. owlet dream socks. and don't get me wrong i love 80s music but i'd be a silly liar to say new music isn't objectively good too.

if there's one thing humanity is good at it's inventing things to make our lives easier and happier. that didn't just stop after the year 2000. it happens every day, we just have to notice it 🙂‍↕

French peaked in the early sixties.
But Eastern Europe has a lot to offer now.

No, it continues to evolve. Maybe you;re just looking in the wrong places? But, then again, things do seem to happen in cycles, and "There is nothing new under the sun", etc.

@ChipmunkErnie Also, there is a major problem today, and that is the music "industry." It exploits artists (I think the production companies are responsible for some band breakups, such as the Bangles- they all wanted Susanna Hoffs as a solo artist). Hollywood exploits artists all the time and are not always interested in originality- they are interested in what sells.
