rac·ism
ˈrāˌsizəm/Submit
noun
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

How many people in this world do you actually think actually believes that all members of a race possess specific characteristics (especially negative ones)?

I don't think many do. Not many are that stupid.

How many people do you think actually believe that every member of their race (that they don't even know) is superior to everybody of another race (that they don't even know)?

@ naturally.. i never said you said it! cool it! And i did answer the question. you said within the body of your text that you felt that there werent many.. i held a difference of opinion.. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder but please dont start attacking those who are just trying to agree with you... it's arrogant and uncalled for.. not to mention misdirected. You do need to remember it wasn't just a question you asked.. you said more within the body of the question.. that turned it into a debate more than a question. Had there *just* been a question and no expansion upon it then no, technically speaking i didnt answer the question.. but as it was i never claimed to be answering the question per se.. i was responding to a point within your text following the question.. if you dont want people to do that.. just ask the question and dont expand upon it...otherwise you invite people to respond on any or all of the points you expand upon... just saying

I could have responded on any of the points and really that wouldn't have been amiss.. it is interesting that others made the same point i did about there being lots... soo... that does kind of suggest that the rules of etiquette here are that if the question contains more points after the question, people are entitled to respond to any or all of those points

Cant say for other parts of the country, I only go to VA, NC, SC, Ga. Al, and Fl. I have seen and heard racist talk through out. In my state I hear white is better, all the other are nothing. Things and words I don't even type. Lots of prejudice with a lot of people we know. This country will sink if we all don't get over the race bullshit. I have no different people I see, all I see is another human being. My wife and I have always seen that way. She is from deep south and family members there recognize no one but the whites. The other peoples are not as good as a dog to them. They are mostly in their 80s and 90s and we lose them every year. Maybe that is where the poison is coming from. We have cut off from a lot of old and new friends because of how they talk about some of the nationalities and races in this city. Just don't need those people around us or the grand and great grand kids.

No, there are some pretty stupid people out there. I knew a guy who believed that white people are superior to all(regardless of who the person was) simply because they were white. I also had the displeasure of meeting a black woman who when asked by the cashier to hurry up in line (she left the front of the line to grab something and decided to take her sweet time even though there were ten other people behind her) decided to blurt out that all white people are slave loving honkeys and that they should all be locked away where they can do no harm. Just because you or the people around you aren't like that doesn't mean there aren't people out there who are completely racist.

I mean, race does determine a few things about people. My race tells me where my ancestors came from, possibly what diseases I might be more susceptible to, and whether or not I'll sunburn easily. But race doesn't determine how smart a person is or how smart they can become. It doesn't enhance or deter a person physically. It doesn't determine their interests or personality. When it comes down to it, I think people place waaaay too much emphasis on race. My skin color is just as trivial as my hair and eye color, and if more people saw it that way (throughout history and today), I think the world would have much fewer problems.

@littlebit..I quote, littlebit · 18-21, F
@Adaydreambeliever Where did I say they didn't exist? You failed to answer the question.
You come across as having a go at people who in good faith responded to something you posted.. I feel like you have tried to be mean to me.. to put me down.. humiliate me..which wasnt nice.. as all i did was try to be nice and respond to the debate - agreeing with you actually.
Darlingrose · 80-89, F
@Just anotherDork, I think,you have put it exactly correctly, those who believe
that skin colors matters, are usually taught that way from childhood or have some sort of phobia about the
"other" being less than! And it also depends on which part of the county you live in, we live in the Deep South and I guarantee you that racism is alive and well here!

@NaturallyPeculiar And you failed to properly answer the question... why am I not surprised? Typical.

I said quote where I said those people didn't exist AT ALL.

''Just because you or the people around you aren't like that doesn't mean there aren't people out there who are completely racist.''

Where did I say there aren't people out there who are completely racist?
NaturallyPeculiar · 26-30, F
@littlebit
I've been a publish author since I was ten and have won several awards related to language arts, but yes you're right I totally lack reading comprehension skills.
Again, you just attack anyone who's opinion you don't agree with. Maybe you should take some anger management classes?
wakeupandsmellthecoma · 26-30, M
Generally, the more radical you go on either side of the spectrum (conservative or liberal), the more jacked up people you see. I believe that most people are good at heart and don't believe any race is inferior to the other or discriminate on the grounds of race.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
my first post on this was the observation that 107 men of African descent had broken 10 seconds whilst running 100 metres whilst only 1 of alternative heritage had. Does that make the facts racist?
littlebit · 26-30, F
@Adaydreambeliever I said I missed where you said ''lots'', what more do you want? My fault but you confused me by saying ''but sadly they do exist'' to end your original statement as if I said they didn't. You see?
GeniUs · 56-60, M
So given that definition I think the facts back racism up. 107 people of African descent or mixed race with African have broken 10 seconds running 100m metres. And Christophe Lemaitre.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
So does anybody want to comment on the fact that there are differences between the races or are you just happy to fight each other over who is less tolerant to racists?
NaturallyPeculiar · 26-30, F
@adaydreambeliever
What are you talking about? I haven't attacked anyone. My response was to littlebit who immediately attacked me after my first response.
littlebit · 26-30, F
@Adaydreambeliever You're right, I must have missed where you said ''lots''. My last memory of your original comment was ''but sadly they do exist''.
NaturallyPeculiar · 26-30, F
@littlebit
"I don't think many do. Not many are that stupid."
Just because you haven't met many doesn't mean there aren't many that exist. That's all I'm saying.
LeavesSilence · 26-30, F
Lots of people, you'll be surprised by the amount of things people believe because they think the 'facts' behind them are 100% true.
littlebit · 26-30, F
@NaturallyPeculiar Haha. I feel like you've just realized that you lack reading comprehension skills. Goodbye.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
Well sadly there are lots of them.. racists that is... they are misguided and illogical for sure but sadly they do exist
littlebit · 26-30, F
@TheCoolestCat What do they all black people share that makes them inferior?

Also, what makes one superior?
NaturallyPeculiar · 26-30, F
@littlebit
I feel like you just want to argue with anyone who doesn't agree with your own opinion...
littlebit · 26-30, F
@Adaydreambeliever Where did I say they didn't exist? You failed to answer the question.
littlebit · 26-30, F
@NaturallyPeculiar Quote where I said those types of people didn't exist?
PeanutsauntieP1982 · 41-45, F
And I think racists are silly, since they can't see that skin is only wrapping paper!

I hope that you are right, but I fear you are not.
littlebit · 26-30, F
@sarahbee1995 Why do you think I'm wrong?
littlebit · 26-30, F
@JustAnotherDork I agree...
littlebit · 26-30, F
@PeanutsauntieP1982 Lmao!
littlebit · 26-30, F
@MrW888 How about you start?
littlebit · 26-30, F
@JustAnotherDork True. I agree.
littlebit · 26-30, F
@LeavesSilence For instance?
