Why are racists and anti-wokeists now offended over a black woman playing "Ariel" in the little mermaid movie?

Yes dark skinned mermaids exist, they're in African and indigenous folklores and legends. So why a movie showing a black mermaid is suddenly now a problem?

I think its a little immature and closed minded to label differing opinions over something like this as just "racist" and pretend to have a moral high ground against anyone who disgrees

When Annabeth in the Percy Jackson movie casted Alexandra Daddario, a white girl, as Annabeth
People complained she inaccurately had black hair, when in the books she was supposed to be blonde

And when they announced the Percy Jackson series, Annabeth was casted as Leah Jeffries, a black girl, and now when people complain it's inaccurate, it's only because they're racist

If a white person was casted on a black character people would complain but that's just completely different i guess

@PetalsOfLilac The white race is the dominant one in Western culture. Whites have more money, power, influence, and representation than other races, so it’s appropriate to go out of the way a bit to cast a person of color.
@Theyitis so is that why they complained about a different hair color? She was white too.

People have NEVER loved change in any way
This is no different

No one complains about spiderman being black because they made him his own character and story and person

But changing pre existing characters, usually as an act of virtue signaling, is when people complain and get annoyed
Whether it be hair color or race or whatever

Actually, that’s "been there, done that", in fact.
@bijouxbroussard i literally just said casting a white person as a black character is wrong in the first place, you don't need to try and prove me correct about that, I'm well aware
