Nazi Insignia cool or offensive?

I used to live near Dago Choppers and the Nazi stuff really bothered me in the 80s. The SS insignia was misguided at best back then. Now anyone should know better I think. That being said, mob violence is wrong no matter what.

It's tricky because there are a lot of dangerous cultures throughout history that we romanticize because the imagery was cool. Is it ok to use imagery from the Vikings or the Samurais? They were also murderers.

I think the question should always be, can real world harm come from this? When it comes to Vikings and Samurais, those cultures are so far removed from the modern day, that I can't imagine that imagery encouraging anyone to actually engage in violent acts. Whereas with Nazism, the original Nazis are so recent that we still have Holocaust survivors alive today, plus there are tons of Neo-Nazis who are actually fighting to rebuild Nazi Germany. Using nazi imagery in a chopper gang actually can help to normalize a dangerous ideology that is already on the rise.

So yeah, that's my view. It's ok to like nazi imagery, but during this point in history, we need to be aware of the real world implications of Nazism.
@BohemianBabe Hells Angels were/are racist and violent. Basically organized crime.
@JonLosAngeles66 Yeah, there are some modern violent cultures that are romanticized when they really shouldn't be. Hell's Angels is one, another common example is the the Italian-American Mafia.
Though I don't think those ideologies are common, it usually is just about the imagery and nothing else. Whereas Nazism as an ideology is so common, that if we see a swastika, our first thought is usually that whoever put that up is a Nazi, not just that they think the Nazis were cool.
Physical violence is indeed wrong, but it is essential to make people like that feel unwelcome. You cannot have an otherwise tolerant society if you allow intolerance.

Always offensive (and repulsive), when obvious and done knowingly. I agree about mob violence, though, even if that man in the video knew the shirt he was wearing sported "Nazi" insignia.

Aren't punk rockers supposed to be the ultimate non conformists? Nothing says brave enlightenment like mindless mob violence.

Symbols get taken over by various cultures at different times.
Even Kiss had to change the hard S's on German releases where using Nazi insignia is illegal.
Anything that represents Nazism is offensive
Offensive. It’s forever tied to genocide, so it couldn’t be otherwise.
