Honest question: What makes it difficult for immigrants to get to the US?

What stopping them from migrating legally?
caPnAhab · 26-30, M Pinned Comment
Thanks for the replies. I don't really have much to add. I'm just soaking it in. I knew it was a lengthy process.

Most of what's coming over the border are gang members, drug runners, child traffickers, rapists, murderers, and terrorists. They would not be allowed into any normal country legally. The ones that aren't blatant criminals are mainly parasites here for the freebies. They don't care about this country, don't respect our laws and customs, and have no intention of assimilating or contributing anything to society.

Immigration to the United States is actually very hard. My coworker told me she spent like over 6k on immigration fees and lawyers, and it took her like 5 years to get her papers.
specman · 51-55, M
Cause they are treated by the administration like they’re above the law. I am totally against illegals!
@specman Really? It's hard to get in legally because it's easy to get in illegally?
specman · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire yes obviously! We so many!
Why immigrate legally, when you can waltz right in and get free benefits?
MasterLee · 56-60, M
They want free shit and biden promised
We don't have nearly enough immigration judges. America is actually one of the hardest countries in the world to legally immigrate to because of how slow the process is.

@BohemianBoo Covid was going on he couldn’t lift the national emergency. He had to let 42 expire due to being sued for trying to end 42.. deportation has to be a percentage when comparing two things . You can’t go off of raw numbers that doesn’t make sense and you know that. Biden would lose and you know it.
It was a bad deal put together where Democrats knew Republicans wouldn’t go for it. The democrats didn’t want them to force joes hand and close the border.
@specman Covid stopped being a national emergency years before Biden let Title 42 expire.

You have to go by raw numbers because of the process. If each of us are scooping water out of a lake, it's going to take us about the same amount of time, even if my lake is bigger. And the fact that there were more illegals in America by the time Biden became president, that's something to blame Trump for.

What exactly is bad about the bipartisan bill?
Also, why did Trump say Republicans should oppose it before he even knew what was in it?

This question should be directed to Joe Biden - only on a day when his marbles are not running around the paddock

It would be much more difficult for a USA person to illegally cross into Canada or even some other socialist country as they have stronger regulations than we do right now. The only thing that would stop this shit show right now is to enforce the existing laws and for the crooked new world order people to bring back the policies that Trump had in place.

Lot of it's done through a lottery system where candidates are chosen randomly and often wait years and years to get through.
The process takes a long time for those looking for sanctuary. Many are literally running for their lives.

This has nothing to do with Immigrants trying to get into America. This about evil forces wanting many immigrants into America. It is a well financed operation with immigrant camps in jumping off nations.

It’s a very tiring process and needs a financial backer, even for Canada I would have never gotten a visa on my own student income from India I needed to show my dad’s tax papers etc

I imagine language must play a part...asylum seekers are not necessarily English speakers
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@bookerdana I'd definitely agree
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@caPnAhab I'd definitely agree 90% are not assylum seekers but coached to be one
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
I thought of migrating to the US when I was 17, wish I did
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@Jeephikelove would you not even consider it now?
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
@caPnAhab just can’t now, lots of responsibilities up here.

Some are seeking asylum, which is very different from simply wanting to become a citizen.
I knew someone who migrated there, and got married.
Had professional qualifications, .... which, for some reason were useless in America.
Also you have to apply and pay for the citizenship test.

And theres the catch - you need citizenship to get a job , but you need a job to get the money to apply for citizenship.

And if you don't pass the test , you have to wait a certain amount of time to apply again ....and pay again .

- all while trying to live on nothing, with no employment.

How does that make sense ?

@OogieBoogie sounds like my experience with the DMV.

I would've figured they convert their local currencies into usd

I’d imagine both time and cost.

We have enough of them, just ask one.

Honest from Europe and Asia the cost

My cousin's husband is from the UK and so far it has seemed like a very long process.

Weird societal rules
Folks don't like to talk about this, but a lot of it has to do with geographic location. An immigrant from England would have an easier time than an immigrant from Mexico.

The USA prefers western European immigrants and makes it harder for everyone else. It's an expensive process
Some get preferential treatment due to the country they come from, others are systematically ignored.
