Cancel culture is going too far!

Trigger warnings: mentioning of (sexual) assault and transphobia.

People get canceled every day, often for the smallest reasons like sexual boundary crossing behavior, spreading racist lies or purposefully ruining the planet for their own gain. You can't do anything anymore!

Until recently, you could do or say whatever you want at the expensive of people who don't have the same privileges as you. Woke culture ruined this. Cancel culture created an unsafe world where horrible behavior has consequences. This is unfair!

And the consequences are disastrous! Losing 12 followers on Twitter (and gaining 1326 new ones from the extreme right), being invited to talkshows, being called a refreshing sound by influencers, getting a column in a newspaper, and watching your reach, fame and income grow. 😱

Let's go over some specific examples:
- Rapper Lil'Kleine was canceled for physically attacking his wife. Cancel culture punished him mercilessly by welcoming his new album in the charts at the mere #1 position.
- Johan Derksen made discriminating remarks and chuckled at the concept of rape on live tv. He left the media on his own accord and had to undergo the network begging him for two weeks to return until he accepted in exchange for half a million euros per year.
- Under the leadership of Mark Rutte, ten thousand families were put in debt they could never recover from, and had their children taken away to a corner of the system from which contact can never be restored again, simply for having a last name that sounds foreign. He was punished with an extra seat in parliament and being reinstated as the leader of the country for another four years.
- J.K. Rowling was cancelled for using her online power to spread harmful, transphobic messages and now keeps raking in royalties from her Harry Potter universe that's still as popular as ever.

I think we can all agree that we can no longer, with a clean conscience, torture people like this for such minor mishaps.

Disclaimer: in case it wasn't clear yet, this post was sarcasm. Cancel culture obviously doesn't exist, at least not for the rich and powerful. Credits to Marten Mantel (@martenmantel on Twitter) for a Dutch version of this.

As I was reading through your post, I was like "Wait a minute..." Then I got to the end, lmao! 😂

I hereby rescind my self-appointed title of "the Sarcastic," and grant you the exclusive privilege of adding it to your own name.
@LordShadowfire Thank you, though in all honesty: this is a (slightly loose) translation of someone else's work in Dutch. I've added credits at the bottom now. (I planned to do that right away, but forgot.)

@NerdyPotato Well, then I must go find them and worship them for a while, lol.
@LordShadowfire you should! He obviously deserves it. 😁 His presentation was a little different: he made it into a brochure called "So you got cancelled... What now?".

"This brochure will help you through this difficult time, because you are the real victim, not the people you screwed with your shitty behavior."
