Ethnicity, race…and music

I recently found this photo online. If you know jazz, you probably know who they are, and I think it’s from when they toured together.
But one thing I thought of: in the U.S., this is a picture of a white man and a black man. If you don’t know the individuals, would you be able to tell who was who ?

I do didn't know they made an album together. I need the look fir it. Django was a jazz guitar hero of mine, Duke, well he was The Duke!
@samueltyler2 Actually they were touring together in 1946. An album was made from those performances, but later.

@bijouxbroussard i listen to a lot of jazz shows on Sirius, and WBGO here in Newark, I was unaware of them ever playing together. I just looked for their recordings, i found a few on YouTube. I also never thought of "electric guitars" before Les Paul popularized them in the 1950s on. In a photo of Django playing honeysuckle rose see, there is a pickup attached to the sound hole of his instrument and a wire.

The photo was taken in 1946. Django lost a lot of money and The Duke apparently helped him recover.
@samueltyler2 They became good friends. I corrected the verbiage because I don’t think the album was made until after Django passed.
